Legally, all contracts must exist in French. The issue this poses is that the person responsible for writing the contract might not have the competency to write in both official languages, or the person signing the document may not have the language skills to understand legal jargon in French.

Under Quebec law, all companies that operate in the province must respect the right of workers to carry out their activities in French. They must also respect the right of consumers to be informed and served in French. The challenge for Anglophone companies is that this information only exists in French.
